Shockers Announce Profits Will Fund Youth Sports
On Saturday March 6, 2010 the Sugar Creek Fair Board held its 25th Anniversary kick-off party at Mike Onka Hall in Sugar Creek. In attendance where many local business and civic leaders and supporters of the annual Sugar Creek Slavic Festival. The Shockers were also invited to attend.
Shockers Head Coach Tim Ellis and G.M. Matt Williams were asked to speak in order to announce that the Shockers will be donating its revenue to the City of Sugar Creek to set up a fund allowing area youth to participate in sports for free. The announcement was met with a huge round of applause. The goal of the initiative is to boost the number of children and teenagers participating in little league sports who could not afford to play otherwise.
This initiative is the result of several months of hard work between the Shockers, Fair Board, and Sugar Creek Parks and Recreation. It is sure to be beneficial for everyone involved.
The Sugar Creek Shockers can now truly be called a hometown team.
